Robinson's 32 Individual Points Help WNE Claim Fourth at RWU Invitational

Bristol, R.I. (October 15, 2022) – The Western New England Women's Swimming team placed fourth out of seven teams in the Roger Williams University Invitational. They finished the day with 152 points, 50 points above the fifth place, Gordon College.

How it Happened:

The Golden Bears started the day with a fourth-place finish from the WNE 'A' relay in the 200-yard medley relay. The relay of Cailtin Guntley, Amanda Robinson, Alexa Adams, and Renee Lussier gave WNE 30 points. Robinson followed that up with a big race in the 200-yard IM. Robinson finished with a time of 2:29.23, which was good enough for a seventh-place finish overall and 12 points. Guntley also gained points for the team in that race with a 13th-place finish and an overall time of 2:36.37. The 50 free was the following event, and it saw two more WNE swimmers score points. Lussier and Adams placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Lussier put up a time of 29.36, and Adams came in .01 behind Lussier for 29.37. Next, Guntley and Adams went to work again in the 100-yard butterfly. Guntley came in eighth with a time of 1:09.85, and Adams got 13th with a time of 1:15.89. The next event up was the 100-yard freestyle. That saw Renee Lussier get back in the water and earn two more points for the Golden bears with her time of 1:05.03. Caitlin Hall also picked up points for WNE with an eighth-place finish. The time for that swim was 1:01.69. 

The 500-yard freestyle saw Robinson get more points for the team with a ninth-place finish and a time of 5:58.33. Then the WNE 'A' 200-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of Alexa Adams, Amanda Robinson, Renee Lussier, and Caitlin Guntley, put up a third-place finish. That picked up 32 points for the Golden Bears. After anchoring that relay team, Guntley swam the 100-yard backstroke and placed fourth with a time of 1:06.71. Robinson would follow that swim with a by Guntley with an eighth-place finish and a time of 1:17.59 for the 100-yard breaststroke. That was good for 11 points. Those were the final points of the day for WNE.

The Golden Bears continue their season on Saturday, October 29, when they host their first home meet of the season. The women will host UMass-Dartmouth at 1:00 pm that day.
