Seven from Women’s Wrestling Named to NCWWC Pre-Season Rankings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 2, 2022) – Just one day before their inaugural season kicks off, seven members of the Western New England women's wrestling team were named to the Region 1 NCWWC Pre-Season Individual Rankings. 

The rankings, produced monthly by the NCWWC, will be based off the following criteria: 

  • All-American Status
  • Regional Place Finish
  • Head-to-head wins – The wrestler with the most recent victory
  • Quality wins
  • Results versus common opponents
  • Win percentage

Western New England was represented in the 101 lb. weight class as Emma Heslin checks into the season ranked third overall. The Marlborough, Connecticut native and RHAM High School graduate, is the highest ranked Golden Bears, of the seven Golden Bears ranked by the NCWWC.  WNE sees Victoria Orender, the Byfield, Massachusetts native ranked 8th in the 116 lb. weight class.

Alanna Coker, out of Manchester, Tennessee, also ranks 8th for Western New England, though in the 123 lb. weight class. Sabrina Sedor, the Stafford, Connecticut native, ranks fifth in the 130 lb. weight class. In the 136 lb. weight class ranks Kendall BranchaudBranchaud, the San Leandro, California native, ranks 7th in the weight class. 

Rounding out the top ranked Golden Bears were both Dakota-Marie Dinielli and Ella NicholsDinielli, from Plainville, Connecticut, ranks 7th in the 143 lb. weight class while Nichols, the Bristol, Connecticut native, ranks 6th in the 155 lb. weight class. 

Western New England women's wrestling begins their 2022-2023 season on Thursday, November 3 at 4:00 pm when they welcome East Stroudsburg University to the Alumni Healthful Living Center for their first ever match. To watch the live stream, click here.
