Holl & Gilgen Named to NEILA All-Academic Team

NEILA Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 23, 2018) – Western New England University seniors Justin Holl (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Connor Gilgen (Ridgewood, N.J.) were both named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III All-Academic Team, it was announced earlier this week.

Holl and Gilgen were among 46 student-athletes to receive the honor, which recognizes seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher that were significant enough contributors to be nominated for All-Conference selection.

Holl, a health sciences major that graduated with a 3.93 GPA, was an All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) second team selection this spring and a three-time All-CCC performer overall.

He registered career-highs across the board with 14 points (seven goals, seven assists), 35 ground balls and seven caused turnovers this season. In 70 career contests (35 starts), Holl totaled 22 points (ten goals, 12 assists), 79 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

Gilgen, a criminal justice major with a 3.17 GPA, started 19 of 20 games this season after appearing in just 25 contests over the first three years of his career.

The defenseman caused nine turnovers and scooped up 18 ground balls on his way to All-CCC second team recognition.

Western New England (13-7, 8-0 CCC) captured its seventh CCC title this season and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament for the ninth time in program history.
