SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 21, 2021) – The Western New England University men's lacrosse team defeated Wentworth 16-8 in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Golden Bear Stadium.
Top Performers
Sophomore Ben Kolb led the Golden Bears with three goals while seniors Matt Greer, Jared Newall, and Brendan Lyons each scored two goals. Senior Jack Seiter went 14-for-21 on faceoffs and collected seven ground balls.
Andrew diPalma and Ben Coakley each scored two goals for the Leopards.
Game Review
Wentworth jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Greer grabbed one for the Golden Bears before the end of the first quarter. Western New England stepped up the scoring in the second quarter, outscoring Wentworth 8-4, including three from Kolb.
After taking a 9-6 lead into halftime, the Golden Bears scored the first three goals of the second half to extend the lead to 12-6. Western New England kept the momentum going into the final quarter, scoring four of the five goals in the quarter.
