Men’s Lacrosse Tops Roger Williams on Senior Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 24, 2021) – The Western New England University men's lacrosse team defeated Roger Williams 20-10 on senior day in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Top Performers
Junior Noah Rust led the Golden Bears with five goals and one assist while graduate student Nick Gamba scored four goals and dished out three assists. Sophomore Dylan Hanley scored three goals. Senior Jack Seiter won 24 of his 30 faceoffs and collected 14 ground balls.

Peter Navarro scored three goals for the Hawks while Matt Halpin and Jared Grier each chipped in two goals.

Game Review
Western New England jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. After a couple goals from Roger Williams, the Golden Bears scored some more in the first quarter, capped off by a goal from Hanley with two seconds remaining. In a low scoring second quarter, the teams were even, 2-2, with goals from Hanley and senior Matt Greer.

Gamba grabbed a couple of goals in the third quarter, giving Western New England a 13-8 lead going into the fourth. The Golden Bears exploded for another seven goals in the final frame, including two more from Rust.
