Golden Bears Men’s Soccer Set to Begin September 1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 20, 2022) – The Western New England University men's soccer team will open with a home game on the first day of the season on September 1, 2022, as announced in the unveiling of the 2022 schedule today. 

WNE opens a season at Suprenant Field for the first time since 2017, when Brandeis University visits Springfield at 4:00 pm. The Western New England's men's soccer 2022 schedule will feature 18 contests during the regular season, with ten of those game coming on home grass. 17 of the 18 games will feature the same opponents from the 2021 season, with the addition of Elms College on Sunday, September 4, 2022. 
WNE opens conference play on September 17 at 2:00 pm when they travel to Curry College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference showdown. The Golden Bears will then begin their largest homestand of the 2022 regular season, playing three straight at Suprenant Field. Western New England will welcome Western Connecticut State University on September 20, followed by a CCC contest with Nichols College on Saturday, September 24. The three game homestand will wrap up with a non-conference game with Trinity (Conn.) University on September 27 at 4:00 pm. Western New England will see its September portion of the schedule end following their CCC contest at Endicott College on September 30. 

WNE will open the October part of their schedule at home on October 4 when they play their final non-conference game of the regular season by welcoming the Engineers of RPI to Springfield. From there, WNE will finish the regular season with six conference games, beginning on Saturday, October 8 at Gordon College. WNE will host Salve Regina University on October 11 before embarking on their final road trip of the season when they make stops at the University of New England (October 15) and Suffolk University (October 18) before returning home for their final two games on the regular season. WNE hosts both Roger Williams University (October 22) and Wentworth Institute of Technology (October 25) to wrap up the regular season. 

Western New England complied an 8-6-4 record during the 2021 season, reaching the CCC tournament's quarterfinal round.
