Men’s Soccer’s Sean O’Neill Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 2, 2022) – Western New England graduate forward Sean O'Neill was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association after being named to the All-Region Third Team, as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon. 

Sean O'Neill guided the Golden Bears to their first Commonwealth Coast Conference playoff win since 2017. A co-captain, O'Neill tallied one goal and added six assists for the Golden Bears on the season. O'Neill played in all 20 games for Western New England, making 19 starts. The Belchertown, Massachusetts native took 26 shots on the year, placing 14 on goal while scoring one game winning goal, his only goal of the season, which came off a free kick against Nichols College in CCC play. 

Over his two years with Western New England, O'Neill played in all but one game, playing a total of 37 games, making 35 starts, scoring three times, and adding eight assists, good for 14 career points.  The midfielder was named CCC Defensive Player of the Year following the conclusion of the 2022 season. O'Neillbecomes the first Golden Bear since Bryan Doyle '19 to collect honors from the United Soccer Coaches Association.
