Paige Uliase Earns Third Career CCC Pitcher of the Week Honor

CCC Release

Meriden, Conn. native posted 0.67 ERA with 15 strikeouts in four appearances last week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 30, 2018) –
For the second time this season and third time in her career, sophomore Paige Ulaise (Meriden, Conn.) of the Western New England University softball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Uliase was dominant in four appearances in the circle last week. She allowed just two earned runs in 21 innings (0.67 ERA) while striking out 15 batters.

In Tuesday's non-conference doubleheader against regionally ranked Springfield, she went the distance in game one, surrendering just one earned run with five strikeouts, before picking up the save in game two.

Uliase then led the Golden Bears to wins in their first two CCC Tournament contests on Saturday. She struck out four batters over five shutout frames in a 3-1 win over Nichols, and then turned in a complete game, one-run effort with five punchouts as Western New England defeated second-seeded Eastern Nazarene, 2-1.

An All-CCC second team selection this spring, Uliase is 12-8 with a 1.65 earned run average and 88 strikeouts in 123 innings pitched. She has posted complete games in nine of her 20 starts and walked just 11 batters all season.

Western New England (22-16) will face top-seeded Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. when the CCC Tournament resumes next Friday, May 4th.
