NFCA Release

Sophomore from Taunton, Mass. earns second straight All-Region selection

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 17, 2018) –
Sophomore Aimee Kistner (Taunton, Mass.) of the Western New England University softball team has been selected as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England Region third team performer, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Kistner is among 45 student-athletes from the New England Region and 360 players overall to earn All-Region recognition. Players are nominated and then selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight NCAA Division III regions. Each regional squad is comprised of three 15-player teams.

She receives this honor for the second straight year after being named to the third team as a freshman last spring.

Kistner was again a top performer for the Golden Bears both at the plate and in the circle on her way to All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) first (designated player) and second (pitcher) team accolades.

In 40 games this season, she hit .308 (37-for-120) with 11 doubles, five home runs, 26 RBI, 19 walks and 21 runs.

The Taunton, Mass. native also made 22 pitching appearances (15 starts) and went 11-7 with a 2.46 earned run average and 119 strikeouts in 113.2 innings of work. Kistner, who went the distance in eight of her 15 starts, also picked up a pair of saves.

The Golden Bears (25-18, 12-6 CCC) captured their second CCC title this spring before making the program's seventh all-time appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Kistner was named to the Williamstown Regional All-Tournament Team after batting .308 with a double, a home run and five RBI.
