Three Different Golden Bears Score in 3-0 Victory at MCLA

Norden, Morgan & Delos tally goals for Western New England

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (October 5, 2016) – Three different Golden Bears found the back of the net as the Western New England University women's soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) this evening in non-conference action at Shewcraft Field.

Match Review
• Graduate forward Emma Norden (Belchertown, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 15th minute, netting her first goal of the season on a feed from senior forward Brooke Labrie (Granby, Mass.).
• Western New England led by just one goal at halftime despite outshooting the Trailblazers 13-0.
• Junior defender Maddie Morgan (Upton, Mass.) made it 2-0 in favor of the Golden Bears two minutes into the second half with the help of an assist from classmate Danielle Dixon (Plainville, Conn.).
• Freshman midfielder Gabrielle Delos (Chepachet, R.I.) notched her first collegiate goal in the 81st minute when she collected a loose ball in front of the MCLA net and blasted it past Trailblazers' freshman goalkeeper Megan Richardson (Adams, Mass.).  

Notes
• Western New England controlled play from the outset, holding commanding advantages in both shots (27-2) and corner kicks (10-0).
• Sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Veilleux (Newington, Conn.) stopped the only two shots that she faced, earning her fourth shutout of the season. Richardson finished with ten saves for MCLA.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, as Western New England (5-7-1) hits the road for a CCC contest at Roger Williams, and MCLA (2-5-3) travels to Worcester State in MASCAC play.
