Liz Mazza Named CCC Rookie of the Week
East Longmeadow, Mass. native recorded three points over first two games of 2019
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 4, 2019) – Freshman midfielder Liz Mazza (East Longmeadow, Mass.) of the Western New England University women's lacrosse team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Mazza has enjoyed a strong start to her collegiate career with three points over Western New England's first two contests this season.
In the Golden Bears' season-opening loss at Springfield on February 23, she scored her first career goal late in the first half and also added a pair of draw controls.
Last Thursday night at Smith, Mazza recorded a goal and an assist to go along with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
A 2018 graduate of East Longmeadow High School, Mazza was a four-year starter for the Spartans, serving as team captain her senior year.
Western New England (0-2) travels to Westfield State for a non-conference contest on Thursday night at 5 p.m.
