Golden Bears Fall to Gulls on Senior Day, 24-4

Breen, Lewis & Zaborowski honored before game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 13, 2019) – The Western New England University women's lacrosse team fell to Endicott College, 24-4, on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Golden Bear Stadium.

Before the start of the game, Western New England honored seniors Kristen Breen (Ellington, Conn.), Janell Lewis (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) and Audrey Zaborowski (Littleton, Mass.) for their contributions to the women's lacrosse program over the past four years.

Top Performers
Juniors Eileen Ruby (New Fairfield, Conn.) and Kaitlyn Hutter (Stamford, Conn.), sophomore Reilly Miller (Goshen, N.Y.) and freshman Liz Mazza (East Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded one goal each for the Golden Bears.

Endicott was led by junior Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.) and sophomore Maya Feigenbaum (West Hartford, Conn.), who produced a combined 13 points. Dutchyshyn was the Gulls leading goal scorer with five, while also dishing out a pair of assists. Feigenbaum registered a hat trick to go with three assists.

Game Review
Endicott opened the game with a 4-0 run over the first seven minutes of play, fueled by a pair of goals from Dutchyshyn.

Hutter got the Golden Bears on the board with an assist from freshman Samantha Vitka (Stratford, Conn.) at the 20:43 mark, but the Gulls responded with a 5-0 spurt to open up a 9-1 advantage.

Miller broke up the Endicott run with an unassisted goal with 6:45 left in the half, before Feigenbaum and freshman Julia Lantieri (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored for the Gulls at 6:05 and 3:56, respectively.

After Ruby notched an unassisted tally with 3:23 on the clock, Endicott scored twice in the final minute of the half to open up a ten-goal lead (13-3) at the break.

The Gulls continued to build on their cushion with a 7-0 surge to start the second half. Mazza capped the scoring for the Golden Bears with 10:16 to play, before Endicott closed out the contest with four unanswered goals.

Notes
• The Gulls outshot the Golden Bears 40-13 and held a 17-11 advantage in draw controls.
• Endicott was successful on 16-of-18 clears, while Western New England finished 11-for-16.

Western New England (7-7, 3-3 CCC) will look to bounce back on Monday night, when the Golden Bears travel to Elms for a non-conference contest. Endicott (10-4, 6-0 CCC) hits the road again next Wednesday night to take on Bowdoin College.
