Kristen Breen Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 18, 2019) – Senior attack Kristen Breen (Ellington, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's lacrosse team has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, the organization announced on Thursday.

Breen was selected to CoSIDA's At-Large team, which recognizes student-athletes that compete in the sports of beach volleyball, lacrosse, bowling, rifle, crew, skiing, fencing, swimming, field hockey, tennis, golf, gymnastics, water polo and ice hockey. She was among 65 nominees and one of 13 student-athletes to earn a spot on the District 1 (MA, ME, NH, VT) At-Large team.

A sport management major with a 3.97 cumulative GPA, Breen is a two-time Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Academic qualifier and a Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society inductee. She is also a member of the Alpha Lamba Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Societies. Breen has completed internships with the CCC, the Connecticut Sports Management Group, and the New England Football Club.

On the field, Breen enjoyed a strong senior season with a team-high 46 goals to go with 13 assists for a total of 59 points (2nd on team). She turned in 12 multi-point performances in 18 games played, including a ten-point effort in Western New England's CCC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Curry on April 27. Breen, who earned All-CCC third team honors for the second consecutive season, reached the 100-career goal milestone in the Golden Bears' regular-season finale, a 20-12 triumph over Salve Regina on April 24.
