Women’s Soccer Posts 4-1 Non-Conference Win over Dean

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 2, 2019) – The Western New England University women's soccer team registered a 4-1, non-conference victory over Dean College on Wednesday afternoon at Suprenant Field.

Top Performers
Sophomore Allison Bruehwiler (Old Saybrook, Conn.) powered the Western New England offense with a pair of goals, while junior Christina Sordi (Bethlehem, Pa.) and freshman Allyson Hill (Storrs, Conn.) also found the back of the net.

Dean freshman Jasmine Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) tallied the lone goal for the visitors.

Game Review
Western New England opened the scoring just under four minutes into the game, when junior Kristin Decost (Hudson, N.H.) sent a cross into the box and Sordi redirected the service past Dean senior goalkeeper Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.).

At the 8:51 mark, the Golden Bears doubled their advantage as Sordi intercepted a pass from Parisee and found Bruehwiler wide open in front of the goal, where she one-timed a shot inside the near post.

The Bulldogs cut their deficit in half in the 29^th minute, as Sztyler-Magee got behind the Golden Bear defense on a breakaway, dribbled around charging WNE goalkeeper Alex Lemekha (Stamford, Conn.), and buried a shot into the back of the net.

Hill tallied her second goal of the season on a shot from well outside the box in the 40^th minute, before Bruehwiler capped the scoring on a feed from junior Mariana Goncalves (Ludlow, Mass.) early in the second half.

• Western New England outshot Dean 59-4 in the contest, with a 20-0 advantage in corner kicks.
• Bruehwiler now leads the Golden Bears with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) this season.
