Four Golden Bears Named to All-CCC Second Team

CCC Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Four members of the Western New England University women's soccer team were honored when the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its major award winners and All-CCC selections on Friday afternoon.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Lemekha (Stamford, Conn.), senior defender Kaeli Serafino (Ludlow, Mass.), sophomore forward Allison Bruehwiler (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and freshman midfielder Summer Hathaway (Colchester, Vt.) all earned spots on the All-CCC second team.

Lemekha caps her career with her third All-Conference selection after starting 15 matches this season and posting a 1.79 goals against average and a .766 save percentage. Lemekha tied for the CCC-lead with six shutouts, three of which came against conference opponents.

Serafino collects All-CCC accolades for the second straight season following her third team selection as a junior last fall. The Ludlow, Mass. native started all 19 matches this season and anchored the Western New England defense.

Bruehwiler fueled the Golden Bear offense this season en route to her second straight All-CCC nod. The sophomore forward appeared in all 19 games, making 16 starts. She led the team with 16 points (5 goals, 6 assists) during the regular season, a total that ranked tied for eighth in the CCC.

Rounding out Western New England's four All-CCC honorees is Hathaway, who made an immediate impact as a freshman. She started 17 of the 18 matches she played in, tallying seven points with three goals and one assist. Hathaway played a key role in a pair of CCC victories, assisting on Christina Sordi's game-winning goal in Western New England's 1-0 win at Endicott on 10/23, before scoring the game-winner against Curry on Tuesday as the Golden Bears secured a 2-1 triumph over the Colonels.

Fourth-seeded Western New England (8-9-2, 4-3-1 CCC) will host fifth-seeded Endicott (9-7-1, 4-3-1 CCC) in the CCC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
