Western New England Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regional Championship

Dias paces Golden Bears in final collegiate race

BRUNSWICK, Maine (November 10, 2018) – The Western New England University women's cross country team wrapped up its 2018 campaign at the NCAA New England Regional Championship on Saturday morning on the campus of Bowdoin College.

The Golden Bears tied Regis College for 38^th place in the 57-team field with a team score of 1084. MIT captured the NCAA Regional crown with a score of 87, while Middlebury (108), Williams (115), Brandeis (136) and Tufts (159) rounded out the top-five. Coast Guard sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney paced the 399-runner field with a time of 20:43.74 on the six-kilometer course.

Running in her final collegiate race, senior Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears, as she placed 169^th overall with a time of 24:50.95 in the cold and wet conditions.

Junior Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.) and sophomore Samantha Lewis (Goffstown, N.H.) finished 189^th and 190^th, respectively, as Townsend clocked in at 25:03.23 and Lewis followed less than a second later in 25:03.47.

Senior Kaitlin Armstrong (Bolton, Conn.) placed 255^th overall and posted a time of 26:12.99, while sophomore Makayla Kinnie (Griswold, Conn.) turned in a time of 27:00.80, good for 293^rd overall.
