Golden Bears will open play against Ramapo on Thursday morning  

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 14, 2018) –
Following a four-year hiatus, the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) champion Western New England University baseball team will make its return to the NCAA Division III Tournament later this week (May 17-20) at the New England Regional in Harwich, Mass. 

The Golden Bears (31-13), who earned their sixth CCC title with a 7-6, walkoff victory over Salve Regina in Newport, R.I. on Sunday, will be making their 11th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2013.

Western New England is seeded fourth in the eight-team, double-elimination regional and will open play against Ramapo (N.J.) on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The New England Regional is hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy, with all games to be played at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, the home of the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

In addition to Western New England and Ramapo, the regional field includes UMass Boston, Oswego State, Keystone (Pa.), Mitchell, Suffolk and Penn State-Berks.

The NCAA announced the 58-team tournament field early on Monday morning. Six teams will compete at three regional sites and eight teams will compete at five regional sites. Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin, Friday- Tuesday/Wednesday, May 25- 29/30, 2018.
