Baseball Falls to Nichols in Doubleheader

DUDLEY, Mass. (April 21, 2021) – The Western New England University baseball team fell to Nichols in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.

Game 1: Nichols 8, Western New England 3
Senior Joe Webber had two hits and two RBI for the Golden Bears while junior Ben Harrison had one hit and one RBI.

DJ Caron went 4-for-4 from the plate with two home runs and two RBI while Brennan Hyde had two hits and one RBI. Kyle Bouchard and Christian Naccari each hit a home run.

The Bison jumped out to a 2-0 in the first inning after Caron and Naccari each hit solo home runs. Nichols extended their lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning. Harrison got the Golden Bears on the board when he singled down the right field line that sent sophomore Vincent Caccavale across the plate. Webber's two RBI came in the top of the seventh when he singled down the right field line that scored first-years Cody Waterbury and Henry Schwoerer.

Game 2: Nichols 14, Western New England 9 (8 innings)
Sophomore Scott West hit a home run for the Golden Bears while sophomores EJ Dudley, Jake Romano, and Waterbury each hit doubles.

Will Kleinhenz had two doubles for the Bison while Victor Valentin and Jack Arend each had a double.

Harrison got Western New England on the board in the first inning after he reached on a fielder's choice and sent Dudley across the plate. After going down 10-1, the Golden Bears scored six runs over the course of the fourth and fifth innings, including a two-run double from Waterbury. West hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh.
