Golden Bears Will Travel to No. 5/7 Delaware Valley for NCAA First Round Contest on Saturday

Western New England making third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, fourth overall

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 12, 2017) –
Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) champion Western New England University will make its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament next Saturday, November 18 when the Golden Bears travel to Doylestown, Pa. to take on Delaware Valley University in a first round contest at James Work Memorial Stadium. 

Western New England (8-2, 5-0 CCC Football) earned its way to the NCAA playoffs for the third straight season and fourth time overall (2011, 2015-17) with CCC Football's automatic bid. The Golden Bears secured the conference title with their 42-28 triumph at Curry College on November 4.

Delaware Valley (10-0, 9-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) will be making its seventh appearance in the NCAA DIII Tournament and first since 2014 after capturing the MAC crown and the league's automatic bid. The Aggies are currently ranked No. 5 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) DIII Poll,  No. 7 in the D3football.com Top 25, and No. 1 in the NCAA East Regional Rankings.

Saturday's contest will serve as the first ever meeting between Western New England and Delaware Valley. The Golden Bears are 1-3 all-time in the NCAA Tournament after picking up their first win against Husson University in the first round last season.
