Mount Holyoke Holds Off Western New England, 4-3

Senior Allison Jackson scores two goals for Golden Bears

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (October 17, 2017) – The Western New England University field hockey team's late rally fell just short in a 4-3 loss to Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at MHC's Turf Field.

Top Performers
• Senior midfielder Allison Jackson (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Golden Bears with two goals.
• Senior goalie Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.) made 14 saves, including nine in the first half.

• Mount Holyoke junior midfielder Kristina Ramsden (Florence, Mass.) scored once in each half for the Lyons, who have now won five consecutive games.

Game Review
• Sophomore Anna Ballou (South Deerfield, Mass.) got Mount Holyoke on the board with an unassisted goal 9:10 into the contest.
• Senior Sophie Perekslis (Millerton, N.Y.) made it 2-0 in favor of the home team at the 27:09 mark, before the Golden Bears broke through 2:28 later when Jackson scored on a feed from sophomore Madison Barron (Lebanon, Pa.).
• Mount Holyoke led 3-1 at halftime as Ramsden tallied her first goal of the game with one minute remaining in the opening period.
• The junior scored again, this time with the help of an assist from Ballou, at the 43:15 mark as the Lyons extended their advantage to 4-1.
• Freshman Haley Daigneault (Longmeadow, Mass.) slammed home a rebound at 53:13 to cut the Golden Bears deficit to 4-2, and Jackson found the back of the net on a penalty corner play just over five minutes later to bring Western New England back to within one and force a Mount Holyoke timeout.
• Mount Holyoke controlled possession the rest of the way to seal the win.

Notes
• The Lyons outshot the Golden Bears 25-6, while the two teams were even with six penalty corners each.
• Trupe has recorded 10+ saves in three consecutive games and six overall this season.
• Senior forward Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.), who was credited with an assist on Jackson's second goal, now has 31 in her career and is four shy of matching Allison Jameson's program record of 35.
