WNE Earns NFHCA Team Academic Award, 10 Golden Bears Named to National Academic Squad

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 29, 2018) – Western New England University has been recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) with the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Team Academic Award.

Western New England is among 132 Division III programs to be honored for earning a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

Additionally, ten Golden Bears were named to the NFHCA's National Academic Squad for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester.

Western New England's Honorees:

Senior Dominique Corveddu (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.)
Freshman Haley Daigneault (Longmeadow, Mass.)
Senior Allison Jackson (Mahopac, N.Y.)
Senior Jenna Katsock (North Babylon, N.Y.)
Junior Leah Kelemen (Bartlett, N.H.)
Senior Samantha Krumpholz (Florence, Mass.)
Senior Brianna Novaris (Plaistow, N.H.)
Sophomore Megan Sweeney (Sutton, Mass.)
Senior Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.)

Krumpholz and Jackson were also recognized for their athletic performance with selections to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first and second teams, respectively.

Western New England went 9-10 (6-6 CCC) last fall and fell to top-seeded University of New England in overtime in the CCC semifinals.
