SHELTON, Conn. (November 20, 2018) – The Western New England University ice hockey team earned a 4-2 victory over Post University on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Sports Center of Connecticut.

Top Performers
Western New England utilized four different goal scorers, as seniors Matt O'Dea (Orland Park, Ill.) and Carlos Ross (Brockport, N.Y.), sophomore John O'Brien (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman Marko Bohatiuk (Bensalem, Pa.) all found the back of the net.

Starting for the second straight game, junior goaltender Baylee Johns (Woodstock, Conn.) stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced.

Junior Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn.) and sophomore Evan Lugo (Sandy Hook, Conn.) both scored for Post.

Game Review
Western New England struck first late in the opening period as O'Brien tallied his first career goal with assists from senior Steve Beck (Milton, N.Y.) and junior Andrew Green (Plainview, N.Y.) just 13 seconds before the first intermission.

The Golden Bears needed only 29 seconds of the second period to double their advantage, as Bohatiuk buried his second goal of the season with the help of O'Dea and junior Corey Kennedy (Clemmons, N.C.).

Less than three minutes later, senior Connor Graham (Norfolk, Mass.) set up O'Dea to make it 3-0 in favor of Western New England.

Lugo got the Eagles on the board late in the second period with an unassisted tally, and Hackett recorded a power play goal 5:29 into the third, but Post was unable to secure the game-tying goal.

Late in the contest, the Eagles pulled their goalie and Ross buried an empty-netter to extend the final margin to 4-2.
