O’Dea & Green Lead Golden Bears Past Anna Maria, 6-1

WNE finishes non-conference slate with 5-3 record

AUBURN, Mass. (January 13, 2019) – Senior Matt O'Dea (Orland Park, Ill.) and junior Andrew Green (Plainview, N.Y.) scored two goals each as the Western New England University ice hockey team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 6-1 victory over Anna Maria College on Sunday evening at Horgan Arena.

Top Performers
O'Dea and Green carried the Western New England offense, combining for seven points. O'Dea handed out a pair of assists in addition to his two goals, while Green recorded one helper.

Sophomores Anthony Frati (Churchville, N.Y.) and Ryan Price (Brick, N.J.) also found the back of the net for the Golden Bears, while newcomer Evan Lindquist (Amston, Conn.) turned in a multi-point effort with three assists.

Junior goaltender Kyle Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was strong in net, making 30 saves on 31 Anna Maria shots.

The AMCATS' lone goal came courtesy of freshman forward Patrick Manning (Messena, N.Y.).

Game Review
Western New England opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the contest when Frati tallied his second goal of the season with the help of assists from Lindquist and senior Tyler Hines (North Haven, Conn.).

Manning equalized for Anna Maria a little over a minute later, but the Golden Bears regained the lead for good with 2:11 remaining in the opening period, when Green scored a power play goal with assists from O'Dea and Lindquist.

Western New England added to its lead in the second period, as Price (7:55) and O'Dea (18:12) both found the back of the net, before O'Dea (6:34) and Green (10:22) recorded goals in the third period to cap the scoring in the contest.

• Western New England outshot Anna Maria 43-31, including a combined 32-17 over the final two periods.
• O'Dea has registered a team-leading 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 16 games.
• The Golden Bears went 5-3 in eight non-league contests this season.
