Golden Bears Place Seventh at Season Opening Roger Williams Invitational
Senior Ed Kaczenski leads Western New England with 38th place finish
BRISTOL, R.I. (September 2, 2017) – The Western New England University men's cross country team ran to a seventh place finish at the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday morning at Colt State Park.
The Golden Bears totaled 188 points en route to their seventh place finish in the seven-team field. Bridgewater State took the team title with 24 points, while Norwich (31) and Roger Williams (95) rounded out the top three.
Top Performers
• Senior Edwin Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.) was the first Golden Bear to cross the finish line, as he completed the five-kilometer course in 18:18, good for 38th overall in the 88-runner field.
• Senior Adrian Barber (Castleton, N.Y.) placed 62nd with a time of 19:33.
• Making his collegiate debut, freshman Jacob Eberli (Ludlow, Mass.) turned in a 71st place finish and clocked in at 20:30.
Also Scoring for Western New England
• Senior Tim Caves (Wenham, Mass.) earned a time of 20:51, finishing 75th overall, while freshman Joey Africano (Alexandria, Va.) placed 78th in 20:57.
