Western New England Finishes Sixth at Smith Invitational

Kaczenski leads Golden Bears for second straight week, placing 45th in 18:54.8

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (September 9, 2017) – The Western New England University men's cross country team ran to a sixth place finish on Saturday morning at the Smith College Invitational.  

The Golden Bears earned a score of 176 to finish sixth in the seven-team field. Amherst College won the event with a score of 17, while Franklin Pierce (50) and Westfield State (75) followed in second and third, respectively.

Top Performers
• For the second consecutive week, senior Edwin Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears, placing 45th in the 82-runner field with a time of 18:54.8 on the five-kilometer course.
• Senior Adrian Barber (Castleton, N.Y.) placed 66th and clocked in at 20:18.1.
• Freshman Jacob Eberli (Ludlow, Mass.) earned a time of 20:33.8, good for 68th overall.

Also Scoring for Western New England
• Sophomore Adam Monroe (Wilton, N.Y.) finished 70th in 20:58.4, while senior Tim Caves (Wenham, Mass.) followed in 71st with a time of 21:05.6.
