How It Happened:

The game started off with very competitive play. The Suffolk University Rams had the first lead of the game. The Golden Bears missed a lot of shots early until Shaina Cooney hit the first couple of buckets for WNE. The score was back and forth between the Rams and the Golden Bears for the first five minutes of play. The score was tied up at the 5:30 mark during the first with a score of 9-9, then the Rams went on a bit of a run with seven unanswered points. They outscored WNE 21-14 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started like the first. It took the Golden Bears awhile to get going and Suffolk hit a lot of their shots. The Rams had a 13-point lead within two minutes of play in the second, score at 27-14 Rams. Emma Elrod put up the Golden Bears' first couple of points in the quarter at the free throw line. WNE shots started to drop, and they went on a run of their own. Grace Fisher had a couple of baskets and a steal. Elrod knocked a couple more down on the free-throw line, and the Golden Bears pushed the Rams' lead down to eight points, ending the half 38-30.

The Golden Bears again, started another quarter without scoring for multiple minutes. The lead in the game increased back up to double digits. It wasn't until the 6:32 mark when WNE finally hit a basket. Shaina Cooney had a big third quarter. She went 3-5 for field goals and put up seven points and six rebounds just in the third. The Golden Bears were able to tie the game back up with less than two minutes to go in the quarter, 44-44. WNE ended up winning the quarter 47-46 and outscored the Suffolk Rams 17-8 to finish the quarter off.

In the fourth, everything was going the Golden Bears way. Julia Quinn put up 11 fourth quarter points. She hit two of the three three-pointers hit by WNE. With 6:28 left in the game, the Golden Bears got up seven points. The Rams put themselves in foul trouble, and the Golden Bears capitalized on a lot of the free throws. Fisher had a lot of key possessions for WNE as well. She had five for the quarter plus made the basket to put the Golden Bears up double digits with 3:15 on the clock. The rams fought to close the gap, but foul trouble kept them from coming back. The Golden Bears win 67-58.
