How It Happened:

Alexia Leon opened the game with a three-pointer for the Golden Bears. Gordon college hit two baskets before Julia Quinn hit a layup and another three. WNE got up 10-6 from a layup by Abby Garaban before Gordon tied up the game at 10-10 almost halfway through the first quarter at 5:38. From this point on, The Golden Bears lost control of the lead in the game. They brought the game back within a point but got down 21-16 to end the first quarter.

The Fighting Scots hit the first three-point bucket of the second quarter after the Golden Bears missed a couple of shots. They did not hit a shot until 7:27 mark from a jump shot from Lindsey Carey. Gordon also fired off a jump shot that was good. Neither team hit a basket from 6:34 left in the second until 4:23, and the basket was hit by WNE's Quinn to put them with six points of Gordon. After a few plays, Sam Bodey's shot from beyond the arc had the Golden Bears four points away from tying up the game, but for the remaining two minutes of the half, Gordon had a run that put their lead at 11 points. The score to end the half was 35-24, the Fighting Scots.

The second half of play started with Gordon hitting all the shots. They increased the lead to 44-24. Shaina Cooney broke the missing streak with a layup at 7:46 in the third quarter, and Grace Fisher added two more before Gordon knocked in another basket. Unfortunately, Gordon had another spirt of baskets, that WNE could not stop. This brought their lead almost at 20 points at the 3:05 in the third with the score at 53-35. The Golden Bears stopped the Fighting Scots from scoring until 19 second left in the quarter, and the quarter ended with the score at 55-40.

Another three-pointer for Gordon opened the final quarter of play. Both teams returned baskets but eventually Gordon did get their lead to 20 points with less than eight minutes in the game. Western New England tried to crawl back in the game, and even got it to 65-51 from another layup by Cooney plus a foul-shot, but it came more than halfway through the quarter with the clock at 4:09. WNE continued to push the game lead all the way down to six points while not allowing Gordon to put points on the board for almost two minutes. Gordon forced their lead back up nine and the Golden Bears got it back within five at 1:41. The score was 68-63 from two free throws shot by Garaban.
