WNEC defeats Suffolk in GNAC Tournament

BOSTON, Mass. - Playing one of its best matches of the season, fifth-seeded Western New England College defeated fourth-seeded Suffolk 3-0 Tuesday night in quarterfinal round action of the 2005 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Tournament. The game scores were 30-22, 30-20, and 30-25.

Junior Amy Lorinovich (Hampstead, NH) continued her fine play by compiling a team high 19 kills. Sophomore Kim Bezio (Plattsburgh, NY) added 12 kills while classmate Becky Cardin (Hudson, NH) chipped in with 33 assists.

The victory avenged a 3-1 loss to the Rams on September 24 and assured the Golden Bears of its seventh consecutive winning season.

Western New England College (16-14) will visit top-seeded Emmanuel in the semifinals of the GNAC Tournament at 7:00 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 3).
