Western New England to Host 20th Annual Girls & Women in Sports Day on Saturday, January 25

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England University will host the 20th Annual Girls & Women in Sports Day on Saturday, January 25 at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. 

Girls & Women in Sports Day is designed for girls from the Greater Springfield area ages 6-12 years old. Participants have the opportunity to preselect two sport clinics. Clinics will be instructed by Western New England coaches and varsity student-athletes. Clinics include both instruction and time for play. In addition, recreation time will be made available for swimming, racquetball and squash. Light snacks will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to donate one personal hygiene product (e.g., hair products, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.) as those items will be given to a local shelter.

The GWSD schedule includes registration check-in from 8-8:30 a.m.; clinic activities from 8:30-11:30 a.m.; snack time from 11:30 a.m.-noon; and pickup is at noon. Participants should bring a bathing suit and a towel for swimming.

There will be a reception for all Golden Bear alumni who have a daughter participating in the day's events.  Light refreshments will be served in the Hall of Fame Room from 9:00-10:00 a.m. 

GWSD participants are invited to stay and watch our Golden Bear teams in action on the 25th, including the women's and men's basketball teams taking on Endicott College at 1/3 p.m., respectively.
