The Life Skills Mentoring Program
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 17, 2020) – The Western New England University Athletic Department collaborates with the Academic Success Center to provide the Life Skills Mentoring Program.
The Life Skills Mentoring Program is based on the NCAA Life Skills Program and strives to support student development and enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience at Western New England University. Life Skills Mentors serve as mentors to first-year student-athletes, have individual meetings with mentees, and assist them in navigating their first academic year.
Courtney Carlson, a senior on the women's basketball team, said "being a life skills mentor is an extremely unique and unforgettable experience. I enjoy having the ability to create relationships with other student-athletes that I might not have been able to without the program. Not only this, but I get to make a lasting effect on their academic career at Western New England. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to make a mark on my mentees' lives and make a difference in terms of bettering their academic success."
