Field Hockey Drops Regular Season Finale to Endicott, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Western New England University field hockey team was defeated by Endicott College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale at North Field.

Top Performers
The Gulls utilized three different goal scorers in seniors Julie Champigny (Acton, Mass.) and Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Addi Williams (Pittsfield, Maine).

Endicott junior goalkeeper Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) posted a seven-save shutout, her sixth of the season.

Western New England sophomore Taylor Klesyk (Hamden, Conn.) accounted for four of the Golden Bears' seven shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Laura Dion (Cumberland, R.I.) finished with a season-high nine saves.

Game Review
Williams got the Gulls on the board with less than four minutes to play in the opening period, when she tipped the ball in during a scramble in front of the net.

Endicott maintained its 1-0 lead for the rest of the half, before doubling its advantage 47 seconds into the second half on a rebound goal by Champigny.

McCarthy tallied her team-leading 18th goal of the season in the fourth quarter on a feed from sophomore Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) to cap the scoring in the contest.

Notes
• The Gulls outshot the Golden Bears 28-10 and held an 11-3 edge in penalty corners.
• Dion has started two of Western New England's last three games, making 15 saves.
