Western New England Honored as NFHCA National Team Academic Award Winner

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 30, 2020) – The Western New England University field hockey team and eight student-athletes received academic recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

Western New England was among 147 Division III field hockey programs to be named a 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Team Academic Award winner for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.

Additionally, eight Golden Bears were honored for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the fall semester – seniors Jacqueline Clark (Auburn, Mass.) and Megan Sweeney (Sutton, Mass.), junior Haley Daigneault (Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomores Tripanne Manuel (Bethlehem, N.Y.) and Hallie Robertson (Keene, N.H.), and freshmen Laura Dion (Cumberland, R.I.), Lexie Hemstock (Cheshire, Conn.), and Mackenzie Svenson (Salem, N.H.).

Robertson was also among 321 Division III field hocker student-athletes to be recognized as a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for earning a GPA of 3.9 or higher through the fall 2019 semester.
