Golden Bears Held in Check with 2-0 Loss at Trinity

Western New England handed first setback since August 31

HARTFORD, Conn. (September 26, 2018) – The Western New England University men's soccer team suffered its first loss in nearly a month as the Golden Bears were defeated 2-0 by Trinity College in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

Top Performers
Sophomore Patrick Kennedy (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Andrew Shea (Somerset, Mass.) both scored for the Bantams, while Trinity freshman goalkeeper Everett Lyons (Southport, Conn.) posted a six-save shutout.

Game Review
Trinity struck first in the 27th minute when freshman Logan Peterson (Nottingham, Md.) found Shea for the game's opening goal.

With just under two minutes remaining before halftime, Kennedy doubled the home team's advantage with the help of an assist from junior Massimo Eichner (Potomac, Md.).

Looking to break through in the second half, the Golden Bears outshot the Bantams 8-3, but Lyons stopped all four of the attempts on target to preserve the shutout.

• Senior Josh Loomis (Jefferson, N.J.), junior Connor Prindle (Shelton, Conn.), and freshman Chris Allen (Somers, Conn.) recorded two shots each for the Golden Bears.
• Western New England held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks and outshot Trinity 10-9 overall.
