Bryan Doyle Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

CoSIDA Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 9, 2018) – Junior defender Bryan Doyle (Southington, Conn.) of the Western New England University men's soccer team has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Doyle is among 12 student-athletes from the region (Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont) to be recognized for combined athletic and academic excellence. In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher, and be a significant contributor for their team.

Doyle, an accounting major with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average, earned his second consecutive All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) selection this season after starting 14 of the 18 matches that he appeared in. Doyle anchored the Western New England defense and also contributed offensively with assists in wins over Westfield State (9/12) and UNE (10/20).

Off the field, Doyle is a two-time Academic All-CCC honoree and a member of the Western New England Business Honors Program. A student member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, Doyle completed an accounting internship with Webster Bank in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Following his CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, Doyle is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. CoSIDA announces its Academic All-Americans in early December.

Western New England went 11-7-2 (4-2-2 CCC) this season and earned the fourth seed in the CCC Tournament.
