Liccardi & Doyle Earn Spots on All-CCC Second Team

CCC Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 26, 2018) – Senior midfielder Nick Liccardi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and junior defender Bryan Doyle (Southington, Conn.) of the Western New England University men's soccer team have both earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) second team honors, the league office announced on Friday afternoon.

Liccardi started 16 of the 17 matches that he appeared in this season and ranked tied for second on the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Liccardi's senior campaign got off to a strong start as he scored in each of Western New England's first two contests at Bridgewater State (8/31) and MCLA (9/1).

The Hopewell Junction, N.Y. native led the Golden Bears to a 2-1 win at Wentworth on October 9 with a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 52nd minute. He also found the back of the net in each of Western New England's last two contests of the regular season, wins over the University of New England (10/20) and Roger Williams (10/23).

Liccardi, a team co-captain this season, caps his career with his second consecutive All-CCC second team selection.

Doyle also garners his second straight All-CCC nod after collecting third team honors as a sophomore last fall. He started 13 of the 17 matches he appeared in during the regular season, recording assists in wins over Westfield State (9/12) and UNE (10/20).

Western New England (11-6-2, 4-2-2 CCC), which earned the fourth seed in the CCC Tournament, will host fifth-seeded Roger Williams (14-4, 4-4 CCC) in the quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Suprenant Field.
