Golden Bears Defeated by Endicott, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. (September 15, 2018) – The Western New England University women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the South Campus Courts.

In doubles play, Endicott's top duo of Fernanda Trevino and Gretta Hartman defeated sophomore Maylene LaPress (Bedford, N.H.) and junior Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), 8-2.

Lauren Rahr and Alexandra Barmore registered an 8-1 triumph over senior Petra Martinelli (Vernon, Conn.) and sophomore Kyra Palumbo (Albany, N.Y.) at No. 2, while Margot Andreasen and Bridget Cott posted an 8-0 victory over junior Rachel Bauer (Palmer, Mass.) and freshman Janet Martinelli (Vernon, Conn.) at No. 3.

The Gulls also swept singles play, led by Hayley Barnett's 6-1, 6-1 result over LaPress at No. 1. Schrader fell to Justine Hoover 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2, and Petra Martinelli dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Reilly Fitzgibbons at No. 3.

In the final three positions, Gillian Freter topped sophomore Jessica Cote (Groton, Conn.), 6-0, 6-1, Alexi Losano beat Bauer 6-1, 6-1, and Cameron Foley swept Janet Martinelli, 6-0, 6-0.
