Schrader & LaPress Earn All-CCC Accolades
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 9, 2018) – Junior Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and sophomore Maylene LaPress (Bedford, N.H.) of the Western New England University women's tennis team have both earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honors, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Schrader was named to the All-CCC second team for singles, while LaPress earned All-CCC third team singles honors. All-CCC teams and major award winners are selected based on a vote of the league's head coaches.
Schrader posted an impressive 6-1 record in singles action this season. She played primarily at the No. 2 position, posting a 5-1 record, while also earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Wentworth's Ali Sollecito in her lone No. 1 singles matchup on September 28.
LaPress went 1-6 in singles play, with all seven of her matchups coming at No. 1. LaPress registered a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Hannah Faghan of Curry College on September 20.
LaPress & Schrader also played together as Western New England's top doubles duo, going 1-6 this fall.
Western New England (2-6, 2-5 CCC) travels to Gordon College for the opening round of the CCC Tournament on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
