Western New England to Host 17th Annual Girls & Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 4

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 25, 2017) – Western New England University is set to host the 17th Annual Girls & Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 4.

Girls & Women in Sports Day is designed for girls from the Greater Springfield area ages 7-12 years old. Participants have the opportunity to preselect two sport clinics. Clinics will be instructed by Western New England coaches and varsity student-athletes. Clinics include both instruction and time for play. In addition, recreation time will be made available for swimming, racquetball and squash. Light snacks will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to donate one personal hygiene product (e.g., hair products, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.) as those items will be donated to a local shelter.

The GWSD schedule includes registration check-in from 8-8:30 a.m.; clinic activities from 8:30-11:30 a.m.; snack time from 11:30 a.m.-noon; and pickup is at noon. Participants should bring a bathing suit and a towel for swimming.

GWSD participants are invited to stay and watch our Golden Bear teams in action on the 4th, including the women's and men's basketball teams taking on Wentworth at 1/3 p.m., respectively.
