SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (June 12, 2017) – Western New England University has placed 52 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Spring Academic All-Conference Team, which was released this afternoon by the league office.

The CCC's Academic All-Conference Team recognizes student-athletes that have maintained a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and have attained at least sophomore status at their institution. The league compiles Academic All-Conference qualifiers twice per year (in January in June), with the spring list including winter CCC sports (men's/women's basketball, ice hockey, men's/women's swimming) in addition to baseball, softball, men's golf, men's/women's lacrosse, men's/women's track & field and men's tennis.

Western New England's 52 honorees are the sixth most among the ten full member institutions in the conference. The baseball, men's ice hockey and men's lacrosse teams led the way with nine qualifiers each, while the softball and men's golf teams had seven and six qualifiers, respectively.

Among Western New England's 52 honorees are 14 student-athletes that earned All-CCC recognition for their athletic achievements, including seven first team performers and a pair of Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year in Daniel Morin (Salem, N.H.) of the baseball team and Matt Fontaine (East Longmeadow, Mass.) of the men's golf team.
