Sam Edouard & Dillon Martin Named Lindy’s Sports Preseason All-Americans

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 10, 2017) – Senior defensive lineman Sam Edouard (Roosevelt, N.Y.) and senior offensive lineman Dillon Martin (Ashland, Mass.) of the Western New England University football team have been named Division III Preseason first team All-Americans by Lindy's Sports in the publication's 2017 College Football Preview.

Edouard, the 2016 New England Football Conference (NEFC) Defensive Player of the Year, was a dominant force on the Western New England defensive line all season. He recorded 57 tackles and one pass breakup while anchoring a unit that surrendered NEFC-lows in both yards (265.9) and points (17.1) per game during the regular season.

A criminal justice major, Edouard is a two-time All-NEFC selection and was also named to the D3football.com All-East Region third team team as a junior in 2016.

Martin, a two-time All-NEFC first team selection, garnered D3football.com All-East Region second team accolades last fall. He didn't surrender a single sack over the course of the 2016 campaign, while helping to pave the way for a rushing attack that ranked 23rd nationally with 239.0 yards per game on the ground.

A marketing-communication/advertising major, Martin has appeared in 30 games over the first three years of his career.

Western New England posted its second consecutive undefeated regular season (10-0, 7-0 NEFC) last season en route to the program's third NEFC title. The Golden Bears, who completed a wire-to-wire run as the No. 1 ranked team in the New England DIII Football Poll, defeated Husson for their first ever NCAA Tournament victory before falling to Alfred in a second round contest.
