Zach Tavitian Collects Fourth CCC Rookie of the Week Honor

Milford, Conn. native averaged 17 points, 6.5 rebounds and two blocks per game last week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 12, 2018) –
Freshman forward Zach Tavitian (Milford, Conn.) of the Western New England University men's basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. 

Tavitian averaged 17 points, 6.5 rebounds and two blocks per game in a 1-1 week for Western New England. He opened the week by making 6-of-8 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws in a 16-point, seven-rebound effort at Curry on Thursday.

The Milford, Conn. native then shot 8-of-13 from the field, making both of his three-point attempts, on his way to an 18-point, six-rebound, three-block performance on Saturday against Nichols. For the week, he shot 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the field.

Through 23 contests this season, Tavitian is averaging 12 points on 48.9 percent shooting and 4.7 rebounds per game. He has scored in double figures in four of the last five games and 15 times overall this season.

Western New England (10-13, 6-10 CCC) travels to Boston to take on Wentworth on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
