Zach Tavitian Receives Fifth CCC Rookie of the Week Award

Milford, Conn. native averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 20, 2018) –
For the fifth time this season, Western New England University freshman forward Zach Tavitian (Milford, Conn.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. 

Tavitian, who was voted as the CCC Rookie of the Year, averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week for Western New England.

He posted his second career double-double with 15 points, 13 boards, three assists and two steals in an overtime loss at Wentworth on Tuesday, before recording 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks on Saturday in a 111-89 victory over the University of New England. Over the two-game stretch, Tavitian shot 70.6 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free throw line.

Western New England (11-14) opens the CCC Tournament on the road at top-seeded Nichols tonight at 7 p.m.
