Western New England Places Fifth at CCC Championship

Junior Adrian Barber leads Golden Bears with 14th place finish

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 29, 2016) – The Western New England University men's cross country team registered a fifth-place finish earlier today at the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, held on the Western New England campus.

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 107 on their way to fifth place in the nine-team field. Wentworth claimed the team title with a score of 43, while Endicott (69) and Roger Williams (87) rounded out the top three. Gordon's Damon Kilgore was the top individual finisher, completing the eight-kilometer course in 25:46.

Top Performers
• Junior Adrian Barber (Castleton, N.Y.) led the way for Western New England with his 14th place finish in 28:04.
• Junior Chris Goymer (Pinecrest, Fla.) also secured a top-20 finish, placing 17th overall and clocking in with a time of 28:26.
• Senior Eric Murphy (Holliston, Mass.) was the third Golden Bear to cross the finish line, doing so in 28:51, good for 22nd overall.

• Junior Jonathan Ricciardi (Pattersonville, N.Y.) – 24th overall (29:01)
• Junior Tim Caves (Wenham, Mass.) – 30th overall (29:26)

Western New England will be off next week before competing at the NCAA Division III New England Championship, hosted by Westfield State University on November 12.
