Hall, Robinson Claim Little East Conference Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 9, 2023) – The Western New England women's swimming team garnered two weekly awards this week as announced by the Little East Conference commissioner's office, seeing sophomore Caitlin Hall and first year Amanda Robinson earn accolades for their performances in a 116-73 win over Rhode Island College. 

Sophomore Caitlin Hall earned Little East Conference Swimmer of the Week after Hall shined in the freestyle events in the pool on Sunday afternoon, collecting three first place stands. Hall came in first in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 27.28. Hall continued her dominance in the 100-yard freestyle, also collecting first place with a time of 1:00.48. The Pittsfield, Massachusetts native finished the afternoon in first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing the relay in 29.65. 

First Year Amanda Robinson earns her first Little East Conference awards, picking up Little East Conference Rookie Swimmer of the Week after placing first in two events in the win over Rhode Island College on Sunday. Robinson started the afternoon by competing in the 200-yard medley relay where her 35.09 second race would help the Golden Bears secure second place in the event. Robinson moved on to the 100-yard IM, placing third in the event, finishing with a time of 1:24.97. Robinson would claim victory in the 50-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 35.49. The first year would close out her afternoon with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a team low 27.53 seconds to pace WNE to victory in the final event of the afternoon. 
Western New England, led by both Hall and Robinson would collect a 116-73 victory over the Anchorwomen, winning their fifth dual meet of the season.

  • Western New England is back in the pool on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15 at Mount Holyoke College for the Sisters Invitational. Saturday's events kick off at 10:30 AM, while Sunday will begin at 9:00 AM.
