WNE Swimming’s Robinson Named Little East Conference Rookie of the Year

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 20, 2023) – The Western New England women's swimming team wrapped up the Little East Conference Championships on Sunday night, finishing in sixth place in the ten-team event. The Golden Bears saw hardwood return to Springfield as WNE First Year Amanda Robinson took home Little East Conference Rookie of the Year honors. 

Robinson was highlighted by her win on day one of the competition in the 200 IM event, finishing in 2:20.90 which was .05 seconds ahead of the second-place winner in the event to capture the first overall spot for the Golden Bears. On day one, Robinson would also pace WNE in the 200 Freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. 

Day two continued with more success for the Woodbridge, Connecticut native, taking third place in the 400 IM event. On the final day of the event, Robinson made her mark to earn LEC Rookie of the Year, placing fourth in the 100 Yard IM event, helping WNE to seventh in the 200-yard freestyle, taking first place in the 200 Yard IM, which secured the Rookie of the Year status for the Golden Bear. Robinson would finish out the night with a third-place finish in the 400 Yard IM to cap off the weekend, earning Rookie of the Year. 

Robinson becomes the first Golden Bear to earn LEC Rookie of the Year, after WNE joined the conference in in 2020.
