Western New England: 6th/10 after Day 2

How it Happened:

Day 2:

The Golden Bears were back at it, hoping for a second straight day of great final swims. The 'A' relay team of Katarina DaSilva, Hailey Dion, Renee Lussier, and Megan Morissey started the night off for the Golden Bears. The team snagged sixth place, earning 26 points for the team out of the gate. Amanda Robinson then returned to work as Robinson grabbed third place and 16 points for the Golden Bears in the 400 IM. Alexa Adams followed that with a second-place finish in the 'B' final for the 50 butterfly. Adams got a best time in the event by .5 and got 10th overall in the event. That earned the team seven points for the event. Renee Lussier would get 15th in the 200 freestyle, which would get a couple more points, and then it was Caitlin Guntly's turn to shine. Guntly swam the 100 backstroke and got third with a big backstroke swim. It was right around Guntly's season-best time, earning the team 16 points for the event. The Golden Bears were on a roll. The 100 breaststroke was the next event up, and another WNE swimmer made the finals in that event. Hailey Dion swam in the 'B' final for the event. Dion placed 12th overall in the event and got five more points for the team.

The final event of night number two of finals was the 800 freestyle relay. With each swimmer swimming a 200 freestyle in the four-person relay, it looked like a big race. WNE's team of Morissey, DaSilva, Lussier, and Dion would go on to take over 30 seconds off their seed time and got eighth place, which was enough to earn the team 22 more points and help the team finish with 203 points through two nights. WNE still sits in sixth place after two days, with one more day of prelims and finals to go.
