Golden Bears Finish Sixth at Little East Conference Championships

Wellesley, Mass. (February 19, 2023) – The final day of the LEC Championships started at 10 am with prelims and then finished later with the finals for the weekend's final events. The Golden Bears kept the good swims coming and picked up some more points along the way.

Result:

Western New England: 6th/10 after Day 3

How it Happened:

Day 3:

The 100-yard freestyle was the first event of the evening. Caitlin Hall swam a 58.48, which was almost a .40-second drop compared to prelims. Megan Morissey then followed that swim with the mile. Morissey took 11th place in that freestyle event. Morissey even notched a time of 21:12.61. Then, Caitlin Guntly was back in the pool for the 50 backstroke, in which Guntly had broken the WNE record in earlier this season. Guntly went a 29.10, another improvement on that time, and earned Guntly the silver in the event. The following event was the 200 backstroke, but WNE did not have a swimmer in the event. The same was the case when it came to the 200 butterfly. However, the 100-yard IM had two WNE swimmers in the finals. Hailey Dion swam in the 'B' final and earned 14th place overall with a time of 1:14.26, which was faster than Dion's prelims time. Amanda Robinson was also in the race and earned fourth place with a final time of 1:06.43, another improvement. As always, the 400-yard freestyle relay closes out the meet. Again, the Golden Bears scratched and clawed and were able to secure a sixth-place finish in the finals. Alexa Adams, Caitlin Guntly, Renee Lussier, and Megan Morissey got a time of 3:57.36. It was a great way to end a great weekend for the Golden Bears.
