Kucharski Repeats on Capital One Academic All-District Women's Volleyball First Team

2013 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--For the second year in a row, Western New England University defensive specialist Grace Kucharski will make a bid for Academic All-America accolades after being named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District I NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.

Kucharski, of Avon, Conn., is a five-time recipient of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Libero of the Week this season en route to garnering the player of the year for that position by the conference coaches. She leads the CCC with 511 total digs and a 5.06 average--the latter a career high so far. The three-time all-CCC performer--including first team this fall--has racked up over 1,500 digs in her 2-plus year career with the Golden Bears. She also has a CCC-leading 19 service aces in conference matches only among 57 overall.

A business management major who has a 3.91 overall grade-point average, Kucharski is a Life Skills mentor and WNE admissions associate. She is a multiple Dean's List winner.

Off the court, the two-time Golden Bears Invitational MVP's community service activities include United Way, Dig Pink, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Center fundraiser, and she has been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Also an All-CCC softball catcher, Kucharski will miss the Golden Bears spring season because she is enrolled in the prestigious Walt Disney Company College Internship Program.

The CoSIDA District I team includes Division III student-athletes from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
