Grace Kucharski Adds to Trophy Case with ECAC New England All-Star Laurels

All-ECAC New England Release

CENTERVILLE, Mass.--Western New England University junior defensive specialist Grace Kucharski (Avon [Conn.] High School) has added to her trophy case with Friday's announcement that she made the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Women's Volleyball All-Stars First Team. She is one of three Commonwealth Coast Conference standouts who comprise the seven-person top unit, and she is believed to be the first WNE performer to earn ECAC all-region honors since at least the 2005 season.

Last month, Kucharski became the first Golden Bear to earn All-America accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches' Association when she was named honorable mention.

Kucharski led the CCC with 5.05 digs per set and a school-record 586 total digs, which breaks her previous season high of 574 set last season. She also set a career high with 97 assists and ranked fourth in the CCC with 60 service aces (7 shy of her career best). She also is WNE's all-time leader with 1,626 digs, with her senior year left.

The business management major also received the Golden Bears' first-ever AVCA All-New England Region citation, repeated on the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Women's Volleyball First Team, and was named the CCC Libero of the Year and all-conference first team.

Western New England finished the season with a 25-9 overall record and back-to-back ECAC New England championships.
