Golden Bears Place 23rd at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

Dias paces Golden Bears in 58th with time of 19:49

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 16, 2017) – The Western New England University women's cross country team registered a 23rd place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning. 

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 640 on their way to 23rd in the 40-team field. Division II member Assumption College took the team title with a score of 56, while Trinity (87), Brandeis (99), Holy Cross (153) and New Paltz State (251) rounded out the top five.

Top Performers
• Junior Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) led Western New England with a 58th-place finish in the 299-runner field with a time of 19:49 on the five-kilometer course.
• Senior Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) also cracked the top-100, placing 96th overall and clocking in at 20:24.
• Freshman Samantha Lewis (Goffstown, N.H.) crossed the finish line 146th at 21:07.

Western New England will be back in action next weekend at the Elms College Blazer Invitational at Chicopee Memorial State Park.
